The Plan
The Plan (I Got Baptized in the Ohio River)
Lyrics by Randy Hogsett

Verse 1:

Thinking about my childhood, and how I looked up to my dad
He got me my own Bible, and he taught me about God's plan
He said you've got to believe in Jesus, and repent of all your sins
Confess that He's your savior, and be baptized for remission of sin
We read about Paul and the people who were saved on his missions
We read about Timothy and all the other early Christians

Chorus
Then I got baptized in the Ohio River
Early one foggy morning with the rain coming down
And as I rose to my new life, ooh the sun came out
A rainbow appeared in the sky, what a beautiful sign

Verse 2:

Now I'm a little older, I've got children of my own
Like my father did before me, I try to teach them what I know
I say you've got to believe in Jesus, and repent of all your sins
Confess that He's your savior, and be baptized for remission of sin
I show them in the Bible how the early Christians followed this plan
I tell them how their daddy's immortal though he's only a man

Chorus:

And how I got baptized in the Ohio River
Early one foggy morning with the rain coming down
And as I rose to my new life, ooh the sun came out
A rainbow appeared in the sky, oh what a beautiful sign

Coda (4 times):

Believe, repent, confess and be baptized
Rise with Jesus to a brand new life
Gonna live forever and for all eternity
Gonna do it like they did it in the first century

Mr. Golden's There audio clip
By Randy Hogsett

Well I tried to call you 'Reverend', but you said you're just a man
Then you sat me down and showed me God's holy salvation plan
I wasn't ready for commitment, but you planted my first seed
I'm so thankful that you lived what you believed

Well I kept on thinkin' 'bout you, Mister Golden and your words
But I tried to do things my way, tried to live without the Lord
This went on through adolescence, up until that fateful day
When you saw me sinning, you loved me enough to say:

Chorus

Do you want to go to Heaven, or do you want to go down there
Don't you know you'll live forever, don't you know you determine where
Well I first resisted, God bless you Preacher, you persisted

And I still keep thinkin' 'bout you, Mister Golden there on high
How I'd still be lost without you, and how you touched so many lives
I know you gave God all the credit, but I still would like to say
Thank you, Mister Golden, for telling me that day

Chorus

Heaven is His Home
By Randy Hogsett

There's one God up in the sky
And He's everywhere I go
He made the sunlight, earth, and seas
And Heaven is His home

He loved me so much that to save me
He sent his only child
And though I tortured, mocked, and killed him
He loved me all the while

Sometimes I doubt He's there for me
Then He touches me and I know
He'll provide for me and keep His promise
Prepare Heaven for my home

There's one God up in the sky
He's where I want to go
I'll lift his name and sing his praises
Until Heaven calls me home
